I tried it and I do like it.  The difference in performance between
git and svn is quite astonishing.  I've been actually thinking about
switching to a distributed vcs and was looking at launchpad but wasn't
too excited about bzr, thinking git would be a better option (and more
politically correct for the Lua world).  So, this might do it.

I am a little concerned that gitorious.org seems to be really new.  I
suppose it's not as big of a deal with git since it's easy to backup
the whole repository, so if gitorious dies tomorrow it would be easy
to move elsewhere.  And people seem to say that synching git to svn
and back is not too difficult...

Anyway, does anyone else have opinions about this?

Also, Pierre: why gitorious over github?  Github seems to be more
popular.  They also say they have an integrated ticket tracker.
